OOTD: Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!  Today, we met with our mom's side of the family for a barbecue.  We ate plenty of baked beans, watermelon, and sweets, and are still stuffed!  The food was amazing and we always love spending time with our family.

I tried to make my outfit a little patriotic today by wearing a navy blue and white shirt with my denim skort.  One of my go to outfits in the summer is a simple t-shirt and a pair of shorts. I love how this skort adds a little more pizzazz to my outfit.

To add to the patriot effect, I paired my outfit with these white leather Sperry Top-Siders. I was so excited when I found these at Nordstrom not only because they are so cute, but also because they were on sale. I love finding good deals! They are so easy to throw on and go with so many things in my wordrobe.

Recently I've been loving wearing my hair in two dutch braids because it is easy to do and feels very summery. Since Memorial Day sort of kicks off summer, I thought it was the perfect occasion to wear my hair like this.

Once again, happy Memorial Day!

Post Beach/Pool Beauty Essentials

Summer is the season of swimming (for us at least).  We constantly are at the pool or the beach and are rushed to get ready afterwards and look some-what presentable for dinner or another activity.  In our beach bags, we find ourselves throwing in the same products over and over again to help us freshen up really quick, despite our messy/wet hair and sunscreen-scented skin.  Here are the top five products that we find essential to carry in our beach bags (along with a clean pair of clothes of course).

1. Concealer
We're both teenagers, so it's sort of inevitable that we get acne and redness on our face.  Being in the sun all day can sometimes enhance this, so we always make sure to bring cover-up with us.  The two areas we find ourselves applying concealer the most is under our nose and on our under-eyes to brighten up our tired faces from a day of soaking up the sun.

2. Eyelash Curler/Mascara
Both of us, unfortunately, do not have curled eyelashes.  We both carry an eyelash curler and mascara with us for after the beach/pool to open up our eyes and make us look not-so-tired from the sun.  My (Macey) favorites are a combination of Urban Decay's Perversion and Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes, while my (Kara) current favorite is The Rocket from Maybelline.

3. Lotion
We don't know about you guys, but we get so dry after being in the pool/ocean!  Whether we get sunburnt or not, we always have to moisturize our skin the days following being in the water.  To get a kickstart, we are always sure to bring lotion with us in our beach bag.  We usually reach for some sort of scented lotion so that we smell fresher too.

4. Chapstick
We both carry chapstick with us wherever we go, especially during the dry summers here in Arizona. Even though it doesn't taste or smell amazing, Carmex is our go-to because it's ultra moisturizing.

5. Detangle Spray (& Hairbrush)
This stuff works miracles!  Not only does detangle spray help remove tangles, it also makes our hair smell better.  And yes, we use the kids brand... it's gentle on our skin if we spray it on our back or neck and is tear-free as well.

Let us know what you carry in beach bag to freshen up after a day in the sun!  Also, check out our Pinterest page for some "Pinspiration".
