Social Media Round-up: Snapchatters you've gotta follow

Snapchat, snapchat, snapchat.  It's one of my favorite forms of social media.  I love finding new people who have adorable stories, so I thought I'd share with y'all my favorite snapchatters who you might even want to add!

1. Georgetown Cupcake (gtowncupcake)
Warning, watching their story might make you want to eat a cupcake.  They share cute pics of cupcakes, videos of them baking, and new flavors they are trying, along with other cupcake related snaps, so your sweet tooth might be activated because of watching.

2. Julia Engel (galmeetsglam)
Gal Meets Glam is one of Kara and I's favorite blogs.  We love her snaps, especially her "eight eyes on the pink couch" Q&A sessions with her husband.

3. Kortni Jeane (kortnijeane)
I'm obsessed with Kortni Jeane swimmers (check out their website here).  She's just adorable and I love watching her stories.

4. StudioDIY (studiodiy)
I just added Studio DIY and have been loving their bright snaps.

5. Amber Fillerup Clark (amberfillerup)
I love reading Barefoot Blonde, and Amber Fillerup's story is always super cute and filled with her two sweet kiddos.

There you have it!  Leave a comment sharing your favorite snapchatters, I'd love to know!  We don't have a snapchat for the blog, but you can follow us on Instagram and Pinterest.  Have a great Friday!

4th of July/Patriotic OOTD

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays because it gives me a chance to show my love for America!  Here's what I wore for the 4th this year!

I couldn't really find a cute red, white, and blue shirt to wear, so I decided to go with plain black on top and incorporate color into my shorts and accessories.  My black peplum top and my star and stripe denim shorts are from Old Navy.  I have had these shorts for a while and have been dying to wear them!  I threw on a pair of silver, strappy sandals from Old Navy as well.  My hair is in a half up bun with wavy curls, and I swiped on Buxom's Classified Crimson for an extra patriotic touch.  My bracelets are from Lokai (the red one, but it's limited edition), Bead for Life (the white), and Hollister (the blue).  I could only link the top because that's the only item that's still available from this look.

Leave a comment sharing what you did for Independence Day!  I'd love to know!

June Favorites

Hey Everyone! June is one of my favorite months of the year. Tons of swimming, popsicles, and most importantly, no school. Throughout the month, I've fell in love with with a few new products.
I'm so glad that i discovered all of these things. Here are my June favorites. Enjoy!

Watermelon Water
In the summer time, my favorite snack without a doubt is watermelon.  I have been eyeing this all month long, and finally decided to try it and I'm so glad I did.  It is SO GOOD!  It's made out of watermelon flesh, watermelon rind, and lemon juice, so it's pure juice.  We get a pack of two, one-liter bottles from Costco for $10 instead of a 12 ounce bottle for $4.  This is such a healthy and refreshing alternative to normal water, especially during the summer.

Spin Pins
These things are GENIUS!!! Spins are an alternative to bobby pins that work wonders. My hair doesn't have any texture to it so whenever I try to pin a section of hair off, I either use a million bobby pins or it just falls out. With these, my hair stays in place because the way they are twisted anchors them to my head. I prefer these over bobby pins because they are easier to hide and more comfortable to wear. Bobby Pins tend to pull my hair so I love that I can't even feel these. Plus, you only need a few of them to lock your style in place.

Cotton Candy Grapes
Best. Grapes. Ever. I LOVE cotton candy everything. I freaked out when I saw these at the store. I was so excited to try them. I wasn't expecting them to taste like cotton candy but as soon as I ate one I instantly fell in love. It literally tastes like you are eating a fluffy piece of cotton candy. The best thing about them is that they are actually healthy. I couldn't believe that they weren't packed with a bunch of chemicals and artificial flavoring. I love these thing so much that I went back and bought two more bags!

Concealer
Because its summer, my skin has been more oily than normal because I am always sweating. This means that i have been getting acne spots more often than in the cooler seasons. I needed a new concealer that had good coverage but also didn't cost a ton of money because well, I am 13 years old.;) I tried few drug store concealers but I couldn't find one that was right for my skin type. I decided to try a "high end" concealer and I ended up trying Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. I am so glad I did because I love it so much. It has great coverage but doesn't crease or feel heavy. Although it is $28 a tube (I got the travel size for only $12) you don't need to use a lot of it. I will definitely be purchasing this again.

I hope you enjoyed all of my June Favorites. Happy July!!!

Kara

My Go-To Acai Bowl Recipe

I am obsessed with acai and pitaya bowls!  They are so refreshing and a great healthy treat for the summer.  Think of a thick smoothie in a bowl topped with fruit and granola (I also add honey on top).  Acai is a type of berry, and pitaya is dragonfruit.  Both are delicious, but pitaya packets are more difficult to find, so I usually make acai bowls at home.  I've tried tons and tons of recipes, but this is one of my favorites.

Ingredients:
  • 1 acai packet
  • 10 frozen strawberries (a little more or a little less)
  • 6 frozen peach slices (I would keep it at six or less)
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • Granola
  • Honey
  • Other fruit (strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, kiwi, etc.)

Directions:
Alright, this is pretty simple.  First, put the acai, frozen strawberries and peaches, almond milk, and 1/2 of the banana into the blender and blend it all together.  While your blender is doing it's thing, cut up the other half of the banana into slices and any other fruit you have as well.  Today, I only used pineapple and banana, but I usually put strawberries on it too.  When the acai part is nice and smooth, pour it into a bowl and top with the granola and fruit.  For the finishing touch, drizzle honey on top and you're good to go!

That's it!  Definitely expect to see more acai (and pitaya) bowl recipes in the future because I am absolutely obsessed with these things!  Let me know, are you team acai or team pitaya?  I think I might be team pitaya, but I really love both.

Our Favorite Summer Movies

For us, summer break is always filled with late nights watching movies.  We compiled a list of our favorite movies to watch in the summertime!

1. Teen Beach Movie + Teen Beach 2
Yes, they are Disney movies, and yes, this list will contain more (you'll get used to our Disney obsession soon).  The Teen Beach Movie series screams summer, not to mention the songs are adorable.

2. Pitch Perfect 1 & 2
These movies cracks us up!  We can never get enough of Fat Amy.

3. High School Musical (all three of them)
Told ya there would be more Disney!  But, do we even need to say anything about these movies?  They are the cutest.  Let us know which of the three is your favorite in the comments!

4. Austin Powers (all three of them, again, but our favorite is the second)
Yeah baby, yeah!  These are probably our favorite movies of all time.  Not going to lie, they are inappropriate at times, but still hysterical.

5. Parent Trap
We personally like the newer version better, but both movies are adorable!

6. Zenon
Holy cow this is a throwback!  This is one of my (Macey's) favorite movies ever and I have so many memories of watching it when I was really little.

7. Grown Ups
Definitely one of the funniest movies we have seen!

8. Camp Rock
This is one of our favorite movies to jam out to (especially Introducing Me). We love watching this movie in the summer because well, it takes place at summer camp.

Leave a comment with your favorite summer movies!  Also, subscribe to the blog to get notified when we post!

P.S. The Disney Channel is releasing their 100th "DCom", so they are showing all of the Disney Channel Original Movies!  ;)

L.A. Outfit

The first day we got to California, we planned on going to the beach.  But, it was really chilly outside and we got in a little later than expected, so we decided to head on over to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.  We stopped by Georgetown Cupcakes (which we mentioned in our last post) and walked around West Hollywood a little bit.  We then drove through Rodeo Drive to go to The Grove in L.A.  They have tons and tons of stores and restaurants, along with an adorable farmers market.  We love going at night time because there are beautiful lights strung everywhere.  It feels like you are in a movie!

I chose a very casual outfit for this night.  I decided to pack this light blue and white striped shirt that I just got on sale from the Gap.  I paired it with my black denim shorts from Madewell.  They are so comfortable and my go-to shorts.  My shoes (which are difficult to see in all of the pictures) are an old pair from Target, that actually used to be Kara's.  And if you continue to follow the blog, you'll notice that Kara and I love stacking bracelets.  I wore my Lokai, BeadforLife bracelet, and a leather one from Brandy Melville that I got a year or so ago.  I also wore some basic pearl earrings, and my hair in a simple side braid.  Below I have linked all of the items I wore that are available online!

Our Top Three Places to Get a Sweet Treat in SoCal

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we just went on a road trip!  We went to Southern California last minute with our parents, aunt, uncle, and cousin.  It's only about a six hour drive to SoCal, so it's sort of a tradition that we go every summer.  Unfortunately, we only stayed two nights, but got plenty of fun activities done within the short time we were there.  Expect to see lots of posts about our little road trip, and subscribe to our blog to get notified by email when we put something new on the blog.

For our first road trip recap, we are going to share with you our top three places in Southern California to get a sweet treat (as of right now).  Our favorites are constantly changing as we try new places and visit different cities in SoCal, but these are a few of the spots we always are coming back to.

1. Georgetown Cupcakes

The first time we tried Georgetown Cupcakes was a few summers ago when we went to Washington D.C.  When we found out a few years ago that they opened one in Los Angeles, we had to go (our fellow D.C. Cupcake fans can relate).  This trip, we were exploring West Hollywood and decided to stop by again for a cupcake.  I (Macey) got a red velvet because their cream cheese frosting is AMAZING, and I (Kara) got the classic vanilla.

2. Ruby's Shake Shack

Located at Crystal Cove along the PCH, there's no way you can pass by this cute yellow hut without stopping.  A friend told us about Ruby's Shake Shack a few visits ago, and has been one of our favorites ever since.  You can order shakes, burgers, fries, onion rings, rootbeer floats and more, while looking at the beautiful Pacific Ocean.  The view from here is absolutely breathtaking!  It's always difficult to find a parking spot, but totally worth the wait.  Our favorite time to go is at sunset, but for this trip, we went around four.  Regardless, the view is still incredible.

3. Dylan's Candy Bar

One of our last places to get treats is at Dylan's Candy at The Grove.  Out of all the candy stores, Dylan's definitely has the best collection of treats.  They have every flavor of gummy bears and sour belts (our favorite) and dozens of M&M colors.  Not only do they have candy, but they also have adorable candy related merchandise and music to jam out to while picking out your candy.  Going to Dylan's is always a must while we are in California.

There you have it!  Let us know your favorite spots to get a sweet treat in SoCal or any other posts you want to see about our road trip in the comments!
